Serious OUCH!

Yesterday while cycling home I came a cropper, went over the handlebars and landed in an unsightly heap on the floor. To cut a long story short, I have multiple fractures to my left arm and shoulder.

Needless to say there will be no painting figures for a while!

Ouchy-wow-wows!

I see it hasn't stopped you adding a blog entry!;)

Seriously, get well soon Matt.

Get well soon!

But always look on the bright side... at least you will be able to use one arm! Having both in a cast is always worse!

Holy crap Matt!! Take care mate and I hope it is not too long until you can handle a paintbrush again.

As a fellow work cyclist I feel for you... what happened to cause you to go over? Rut, or got hit?

Steve- I have no idea, the cycle path is not the best quality in the world, but one second I was up and the second I was airborne. Best guess is as I turned slightly the gravel acted like marbles in the wet. Whatever the cause it appears it was a solo effort!

Double ouch.... did the same thing myself the other week... came over the railway crossing quickly (was beating the lights), turned right into a side road, road was wet/greasy, wheel went one direction I went the other...... no serious damage thankfully, but always embarrassing doing it in front of the school crossing at drop off time! :o))

Trust you recover quickly..

Blooming heck that is bad! Get well soon! (not the painting arm I hope?)

Fortunately I am right handed. I may have to invent some clamping device in the coming weeks so I can paint again!

Matt - I've only just seen this post - terribly sorry to hear about your accident - look after yourself and get better quickly. Jeez - we've never even met and I'm upset!

Just as well someone left an unsightly heap for you to land in, or things might have been even worse.

Take care - all the best

Tony,

STOP PRESS - The unsightly heap has been in contact with Ambulance-Chasers-R-US and is going to sue!

Just found your blog as I am busy rehabilitating Airfix ACW painted long ago..

Comiserations and the tumble, did the same a few years ago and did a collar bone - I sued the council over the pot hole and won so go for that!

Just recovered from breaking both hands coming off a horse (dressed as WW1 cavalry at the time.)Had to spend six weeks sitting glumly at my painting table planning projects.. So you absolutely have my sympathies. Get well soon a nd keep osting the inspiring pics..

Nasty! The worst I have ever had was a broken toe so can't imagine all the difficulties you must be going through. Get better soon!

In the alternative universe you would have a lovely nurse to hold your figures up for you while you paint them!

Hello Matt,
I only read your post last night. I hope you begin to heal very soon, sounds bloody painful! At least you will be back to painting (and cycling) again in due course.

I can't recall which of the 'Perry twins' it was that lost his right forearm in a re-enactment artillery accident and subsequently had to teach himself to sculpt with his left hand, which he did successfully of course. That always struck me as an amazing feat of dedication. Anyway, sorry for that digression, get well soon :-)
