107th Field Battery RFA 1914

The World War One collection has a new addition-one 18pdr gun and crew, figures from the Tumbling Dice 20mm range. For someone who used, as a lad, to know a fair bit about the 1914 campaign in France it is amazing how much I have forgotten. The research side is a lot of fun. I have read through a few of the old books plus some new titles picked up at the local Library.

I am still toying between the various rule sets, but the unit designation answers one question. The "107th" were present at the Battle of Mons. So a classic British vs Germans it is!

A quick note about scale. As Sander pointed out on the last week, the TD 20mm are small. The bottom right image is a Eureka 18mm vs TD 20mm vs Airfix HO/OO shot. (The TD 1/72nd figures are much larger and far more plastic compatible!).

However the TD 20mm WW1 range is very comprehensive and so there is little, if any, need to look elsewhere.

Finally, for those wondering about the Airfix ACW project it is still alive, however I have changed my mind about the rules and therefore I have succumbed to the ultimate wargamer evil and am now busy re-basing the whole lot. More of this later.

I do love the look of WWI 18pdrs and this one is very nicely done.

Thanks for the comparison shot. Given how big the Zvezda WWI figs are, I'm thinking they are not going to mix but Hat might, and possibly Jacklex?

They would need a slightly thicker base to work, but HaT & Jacklex match the Airfix soldiers pretty well. The TD figures and equipment are very neat & tidy. Easy to paint and fantastic value.

Love the gun and crew Matt. Looks awesome. As for re-basing!! I really hate it, so, good luck to you for getting it done.
