More "Old School" ACW

More Connoisseur Miniatures, this time a Union 12pdr Napoleon and 4 crew.

The painting style is still experimental, I seem to have forgotten a lot of the old techniques I used in my formative wargaming years! I have a battalion of Confederate infantry ready to go and will be trying out some washes and dry brushing techniques to see what "Gilder-esque" results I can achieve.

I have now bought some oil paints for the horses and was even eyeing up some Humbrol enamels but then remembered the smell of white spirit-OK when you are a kid yourself, but not when you have them!

I paint all my figures using Humbrol enamels! It's the only Old School way! Can't stand acrylics: too bright, too thick and dry too quickly (I mix all my shades on a palette).

Very nice! I've gotta admit I prefer acrylics, they're just a lot less hassle than enamels.

You have some nice painted figures here on this nice blog. still have a lot of reading to do.

I used the paint with enamels, but some three years ago I changed them for acrylics. Now I don't use only use these paints. And I have a happy family, because the smell of those enamel paints is gone.

I like that artillery to ;-)
